About

Eddie Sulton'EL is a professional music promoter dedicated to rekindling cultural life in southern New Jersey. His success is measured by his love for the business. He first came to South Jersey to visit his grandmother, a concert pianist.

He grew up in a family with ten children where his “Grandma” was the only musician. At the age of six, he started learning the guitar. Six years later, he had developed enough musical talent to play with bands. His pursuit of a musical career, was difficult in South Jersey, however, and he went through the musical network in Philly.

Taking charge of his own situation, Sulton began writing and recording songs. Frank DeGennaro, who published some songs, discovered his talent. These songs played on the casino floor for three years and throughout southern New Jersey.

Sulton’s performing career was put on hold so he could pursue other venues of the music business. In the 1970s, he started booking for his own band, as well as writing songs, selecting musicians. To further promote the types of music he loved, he started a record company, Jalil Records. He found it difficult to get air play. It was very hard for new artists to get air play on gold and platinum stations.

The first gospel show he put together was a flop and he lost a substantial amount of money. But he persevered and continued to promote local talent, building a successful career through his determination. He now represents more than 50 gospel artists and with multiple diversified talents, Sulton Productions can compete with anyone for enjoyable and inspirational entertainment.

Sulton likes to be involved with Hammonton because it acts as a nexus between many different points like New York City, Atlantic City and Philadelphia – all cities with rich performing histories. His professional outlook has allowed him to climb a very difficult ladder, and more doors are open for him and those talents he represents. To expand his record business, artists are pre-tested against consumer markets, determining from local success what kind of larger success is possible.

Sulton has to keep up with a number of things as a business professional, and always keeps his eyes open for new talent. He deals with consummate professionals, and tries to find the right musician for each situation.
